About AANA

The Assam Association of North America (AANA) is a community of people from Assam, India, living across North America. United by pride in our Assamese language and culture, we are committed to preserving this rich heritage and passing it on to future generations.

Founded in 1980 with modest beginnings, AANA has grown steadily by adhering to clear rules and procedures, providing consistent outreach and a vibrant platform for our expanding community. Our sister organizations—the Assam Foundation of North America (AFNA), our non-profit fundraising arm, and Asam Sahitya Sabha, North America (ASSNA), our literary wing—are leaders in their respective domains, driving meaningful impact. Together, we look forward to even greater achievements.

Our children, for whom this association was originally built, are now adults. It is heartening to see their eagerness to step forward, embrace responsibilities, and carry this legacy forward. They are the natural next stewards of this institution.

As the saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Like that child, AANA has flourished through the dedication, vision, and hard work of many. We proudly acknowledge our collective strengths, our accomplishments, and our shared purpose—clearly reflected in our successful conventions and community initiatives. Onward we march!
